Facts:

In Australia there are two types of indigenous people; the Aborigines and the Torres Strait Islanders, but I’m going to write about the Aborigines. Indigenous are the people who lived in the country from the start, also called the original people or the natives. The word aborigin comes from Latin and means from the beginning. It has specially been used for the indigenous people in Australia because it is said that the Aborigines could be the first people in the entire world. Today there are around 550 000 Aborigines in Australia. They have regained self-determination and the freedom to live according to their own traditions after being colonised by the British people.
